Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: I powered up the drive but the fan isn't spinning. Is it
broken?
Don't worry - probably not. The GD28 uses smart temperature
control. The fan won't spin below 36°C, and only runs at full speed
above 69°C. If the heatsink feels warm but not hot, it's working
normally. Still concerned? Check parameter P08.41 (setting the tens
digit to 1 forces temperature-controlled mode on).
Q2: How do I wire this STO function? I see two terminals.
The GD28 uses dual-channel redundant STO (two safety circuits
backing each other up), TÜV-certified to SIL3. Factory default has
STO1 and STO2 shorted to +24V. To use it: Remove those two shorting
wires, connect two normally-closed safety contacts, and both
channels need +24V simultaneously for the drive to run.
Q3: I'm getting E23 or E8 errors. What do they mean?
E23 (Motor Overheat): Either the motor is genuinely hot, or the temperature sensor isn't
connected right. The DI4 terminal on GD28 can accept a PTC
thermistor. Don't forget - there's a DIP switch on the control
board that needs to be switched to "PTC" side.
E8 (Overvoltage): This usually means you're stopping too fast. Solutions: Increase
deceleration time (P00.12) or for loads with inertia, use a braking
resistor (all GD28 models have the braking unit built-in).
Q4: No computer on site. What's the easiest way to copy parameters
to another drive?
Easiest way is the official parameter copier (looks like a USB
stick). Budget-friendly trick: Use an OTG cable + Type-C with your
Android phone. Plug into any Android phone, open the "INVT Debug
Assistant" app, read parameters, save them, upload to another
drive.
Q5: I need Profinet to talk to my PLC. Does this drive support it?
Yes. GD28 comes standard with Modbus RTU. For Profinet, EtherCAT,
or EtherNet/IP, you need to buy and plug in an optional expansion
card.
